About the Role:

I am currently partnered with an established US ingredients supplier who are looking to add a Commercial Manager to drive business growth in the US pet ingredients sector. This senior-level management role requires a strong commercial and technical background in pet and/or animal nutrition ingredients, with the potential to build and lead a team within the next two years.

As this company is entering the pet nutrition space for the first time, the successful candidate will be at the forefront of establishing this new business segment, identifying key market entry opportunities, and creating a strong foundation for future growth.

The ideal candidate will have an established network within the US pet industry, a proven ability to drive sales, and expertise in technical ingredients. Frequent travel (50% or more) will be required to network and engage with pet food manufacturers, distributors, and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of a strategic commercial plan to enter and expand the company's presence in the US pet ingredients market.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities while managing relationships with existing clients.
  • Provide technical insights on ingredient functionality, formulation, and application in pet nutrition.
  • Work towards building and leading a high-performing commercial team within the next two years.
  • Act as the key driver in shaping and positioning the company's presence in the pet sector.
  • Provide regular sales reports, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition is preferred. Other nutritional fields will also be considered.
  • 10+ years of experience in pet and/or animal nutrition ingredients, with a strong commercial focus.
  • Established network within the US pet industry.
  • Strong understanding of technical ingredients and their applications in pet nutrition.
  • Proven track record of driving sales growth and managing key customer relationships.
  • Experience in business development and market entry strategies.
  • Experience in team leadership or business expansion is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50% or more) across the US.
