ABOUT THE COMPANY

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a site leadership role with a well-established mining operation based in regional Northeastern Tasmania. The company manages both underground and open cut mines, as well as an on-site processing plant. With a strong local workforce and a long-standing supply relationship with key Tasmanian industries, this business plays a vital role in the state's energy and manufacturing sectors.

ROLE

We're seeking an experienced Underground Mine Manager to lead a dedicated team in a unique, quality-driven operation. Focused more on consistency and safety than volume, this role offers a refreshing alternative to traditional high-output coal mines.

You'll join a close-knit team with the autonomy to make operational improvements while receiving the backing of a larger corporate structure. A strong salary package is on offer, along with access to nearby regional and coastal living.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead underground operations to deliver safe, efficient and consistent coal production
    * Provide visible safety leadership and maintain systems that ensure compliance with all SHE regulations
    * Recruit, train and develop team members to improve productivity and performance
    * Oversee underground planning, budgeting and asset management strategies
    * Drive a culture of continuous improvement, flexibility and accountability

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years' experience in bord and pillar coal mining, with prior operational and supervisory exposure
    * Previous statutory appointment as Deputy and Undermanager in an underground coal mine
    * Recognised First Class Mine Manager's Certificate (required) and Ventilation Officer Certificate (required)
    * Strong people leadership skills, including experience with workforce planning and EBA negotiations
    * Practical mine planning experience and demonstrated ability to implement operational strategies
