We are partnering with a respected and forward-thinking architecture practice that is seeking a Principal/Studio Director to lead and grow its Multifamily AND/OR Mixed-Use practice in Los Angeles. With a strong presence across the region, this firm is committed to design excellence and long-term impact, and is looking for a leader to help drive both creative and commercial success.
The Role:
As Studio Director, you will have full responsibility for the studio's strategic direction, financial health, and design quality. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for someone with strong business development skills, a proven background in multifamily and mixed-use projects, and the vision to build a thriving studio.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the studio's operations, culture, and strategic direction in alignment with firm-wide goals.
Oversee the design, planning, and delivery of high-quality multifamily/mixed-use projects.
Mentor and grow a high-performing team, providing leadership, feedback, and development opportunities.
Drive business development efforts-building relationships, winning work, and expanding market presence.
Manage client relationships and serve as a key point of contact on major projects.
Ensure strong financial performance including work plans, staffing, billing, and collections.
Oversee contract negotiations, consultant coordination, and project risk management.
Represent the firm at industry events and conferences to increase visibility and influence.
Requirements:
15+ years of professional experience in architecture, with a focus on multifamily or mixed-use projects.
Proven leadership experience in a studio or firm-wide role, including team management.
Strong track record in business development and client relationship management.
Deep understanding of project financials, contracts, and operational strategy.
Excellent communication and strategic planning skills.
Willingness to travel as needed for projects, meetings, and industry events.
