The Senior Battery Engineer is primarily a customer-facing battery expert deeply integrated into the battery industry. They utilize their extensive battery knowledge to collaborate across various teams. By leveraging their expertise, the Senior Battery Engineer interprets and communicates the needs of customer battery engineers, tailoring products to ensure a valuable experience.

This role involves direct interaction with customers, addressing complex technical issues, and serving as a strategic advisor in shaping the company's direction. As a member of the customer success team, the Senior Battery Engineer collaborates closely with business development, sales, product, and engineering teams. They offer comprehensive training, onboarding, and technical support to customer battery teams. Additionally, the Senior Battery Engineer participates in scheduled calls and on-site meetings to support, troubleshoot, and enhance customer usage.

Staying abreast of industry trends, the Senior Battery Engineer ensures that the product offering remains current and competitive. Responsibilities also include generating conference and thought-leadership content and presenting at industry events. They lead technical projects related to company-wide goals and product development.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a consultative expert for customer battery engineering teams, providing insights and recommendations through utilization of the platform
  • Develop strong technical relationships with customer engineering teams to become a trusted advisor
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their objectives and workflows, implementing solutions directly in the platform
  • Deliver product demonstrations to new and existing customers, both in-person and via web conferences
  • Onboard and train customers on platform usage
  • Identify and advocate for product improvements
  • Work across teams to prepare demonstration materials and custom demonstrations
  • Support the sales process and implement best practices for customers
  • Identify opportunities to expand customer usage of the battery platform
  • Up to 40% travel

Qualifications

  • PhD in battery-specific research or B.S. engineering / materials science
  • 3+ years experience in the field
  • Python coding experience and willingness to collaborate with software engineering teams
  • Knowledge of battery testing/engineering industry
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in customer-facing environments
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple requests
  • Authorization to work in USA
