Our client's organization operates a highly automated parcel processing network utilizing advanced technologies like vision systems, OCR, robotics, and automated guided vehicles. This role focuses on expanding autonomous and robotic technology across our network. Responsibilities include identifying automation opportunities, analysing and deploying robotic solutions, and managing their testing and acceptance in parcel processing and materials handling. The position is key to driving technology adoption, requiring expertise in large-scale robotics implementation, and fostering collaborative relationships to promote continuous improvement.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience in delivering large-scale industrial automation solutions in both brownfield and greenfield environments, including successful robotic implementations.
  • Ability to develop, communicate, and implement national operational strategies.
  • Track record of influencing business decisions with commercial insight.
  • Experience in leading and implementing process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, operational audits).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with proficiency in applying DMAIC principles to improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to proactively identify risks and develop commercially sound mitigations.
  • Strong commitment to safety, underpinned by a practical understanding of functional safety principles.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Commercial & Strategic

  • Analyse customer needs to identify automation opportunities and develop feasibility proposals.
  • Engage stakeholders to secure buy-in and lead vendor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and legislative standards.
  • Implement cost-reduction initiatives and support financial evaluations with accurate forecasts.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to develop innovative solutions and align customer experience targets with business goals.

Relationships

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence diverse stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to achieve business outcomes.
  • Ability to work with technical stakeholders in operations, IT, and engineering to ensure effective support for new solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain sectors.
  • Familiarity with workforce safety, compliance requirements, and industrial agreements.
  • Awareness of technology and best-in-class robotics opportunities.

Technical and Professional Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, mechatronics, or electrical engineering preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant design standards.
  • Lean Green Belt or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Formal qualifications in project management are desirable.
