Role Overview:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Bulk Material Handling division, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge conveyor systems, feeders, and other equipment used in large-scale mining operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimise performance, reduce operational costs, and improve reliability while maintaining stringent safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for bulk material handling equipment, including conveyors, chutes, hoppers, and crushers.
• Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
• Conduct stress analysis, load calculations, and material selection to ensure equipment safety and efficiency.
• Collaborate with project managers, production teams, and clients to deliver customised solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation and specifications to meet industry standards and client requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in the prototyping, testing, and validation phases to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing and installation, troubleshooting design-related issues as needed.
• Keep up-to-date with industry trends, innovations, and best practices to continuously improve the design process.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in mechanical design within the mining, bulk material handling, or heavy equipment industries.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor preferred).
• Understanding of mechanical systems, structural design, and material properties.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and design for manufacturing (DFM) is advantageous.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in the mining or heavy industries.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
