Lead Electrical Testing Engineer - High Voltage Laboratory

Summary:

You will work within a globally recognised leader that provides independent testing, inspection, and certification services for the electricity industry with over 60 years of experience and presence in over 70 countries.

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to continue the growth and development of the North American focused High Voltage testing operation within an established testing organisation.

As the Lead Engineer, you will:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of high voltage test engineers by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing guidance to ensure accurate, timely test complete Foster a culture of innovation, safety, and continuous learning.
  • High Voltage Testing: Oversee the planning, execution, and analysis of high voltage tests on electrical equipment (e.g. transformers, circuit breakers, insulators). Address and resolve technical issues during test Develop and implement test procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Laboratory Management: Oversee the high voltage laboratory's equipment calibration, maintenance, and upgrades. Recommend equipment investments to expand testing capabilities and ensure safety compliance.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of high voltage testing techniques and methodologies, with a commitment to ensuring all testing adheres to relevant industry standards including IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and UL, as well as meeting customer specifications.
  • Staying current with advancements in high voltage testing practices to continuously refine and improve protocols. Additionally, provide technical guidance to engineering teams and clients, supporting best practices and industry compliance throughout the testing process.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed test reports with data analysis, conclusions, and recommendations. Maintain accurate up-to-date documentation of procedures and results

Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering
  • 7 Years of experience in testing and validation of utility-scale electrical/mechanical equipment, with extensive knowledge of AC/DC power circuits, component selection and calculations.
  • Extensive experience in high voltage testing with knowledge of key testing methods, such as power frequency, impulse, partial discharge, and withstand voltage tests.
  • Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution principles, as well as current and voltage measurement techniques.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, IEC, UL and other relevant standards for electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Proven customer relationship management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
