Lead Construction Manager - BESS Projects
Location: Switzerland
On behalf of an international renewables company, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead the construction of utility-scale battery storage systems (BESS) across Western Europe. This role is a key part of a newly established team, offering the opportunity to shape and execute projects with high growth potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from final investment decision to commercial operations and O&M stages, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality project delivery.
- Lead negotiations with external contractors to ensure favourable terms and effective collaboration.
- Define and implement best practices for BESS project construction (multi-package to wrapped EPC), managing RFP processes, supply chains, logistics, and construction management.
- Develop a risk management strategy to identify, analyse, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Establish governance and quality standards for BESS construction projects, including KPIs, reporting, and documentation.
- Lead and coordinate a small internal team of project managers, and manage external resources such as owner's engineers.
- Play a key role in driving the success of our client's ambitious growth plans.
Your Profile:
- Highly collaborative, with the ability to build trust and manage relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong drive and energy to shape and deliver success in a complex environment.
- 8+ years of experience in delivering large-scale construction projects in the renewable energy sector, ideally with recent experience in utility-scale battery systems.
- Profound technical understanding of BESS systems and key success factors in construction.
- Proven track record in leading commercial negotiations and managing high-performing teams.
- Established network within the industry and a strong understanding of best practices.
- Proficiency in English, with fluency in German and/or French preferred; additional languages are an advantage.
