The Opportunity: To be based in a popular regional city in BC, we are looking for an experienced industrial hygienist to join the Health & Safety team at a well established mining operation.

The Industrial Hygienist will manage all industrial hygiene matters on-site, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and controlling hazards related to chemicals, hazardous materials, and other workplace exposures. This role involves developing and overseeing hygiene programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting best practices to maintain a safe work environment across the mine site.

Reports to: Health & Safety Manager
Salary: $110,000 - $125,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Roster: Mon-Fri
Team Size: 6 in H&S

Core responsibilities:

  • Manage the Hazardous Materials Program at site
  • Conduct exposure surveys, analyze data, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain the Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Database for tracking and reporting.
  • Coordinate and schedule medical surveillance programs for exposure risks.
  • Develop and deliver industrial hygiene training sessions.
  • Lead the site Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Committee.
  • Prepare reports with recommendations for hazard control.
  • Monitor regulations and recommend risk-based mitigation actions.
  • Provide technical support on chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
  • Share safety information and best practices across the organization.
  • Manage the Occupational Health budget effectively.

Key requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years Health & Safety/Industrial Hygiene related experience
  • Working towards or certified as a CIH
  • Experience in mining or other industrial related environment
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety regulations
  • Demonstrated knowledge in exposure monitoring methodology and control principles
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated, with a high level of planning, scheduling and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
