Are you passionate about optimizing manufacturing processes and developing automated systems? My client is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced control systems in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Your expertise in electrical, mechanical, and software systems will be key in driving process improvements and ensuring efficient, reliable plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

    • Design and implement control systems, including PLCs, HMI, and SCADA.
    • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.

Process Improvement:

    • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for automation and optimization.
    • Implement control strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.

Maintenance and Support:

    • Provide technical support for troubleshooting control system issues.
    • Develop preventative maintenance programs for control systems.

Project Management:

    • Lead control system projects from concept to completion, including budgeting and scheduling.
    • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for the procurement and installation of components.

Documentation and Training:

    • Maintain documentation for control system designs and processes.
    • Train plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of control systems.

Compliance and Standards:

    • Ensure control systems comply with industry standards and regulations.
    • Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and HMI/SCADA development.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and automation technology.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with industrial networking and cybersecurity practices.
  • Certification in Control Systems Engineering (CSE).
  • Experience with specific hardware and instrumentation.

Work Environment:

  • Based in a manufacturing plant with occasional exposure to loud noise and other industrial hazards.
  • Occasional travel for training, project meetings, or vendor visits.
  • Part of an on-call rotation one week per month.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
