In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced control systems in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Your expertise in electrical, mechanical, and software systems will be key in driving process improvements and ensuring efficient, reliable plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
- Design and implement control systems, including PLCs, HMI, and SCADA.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
Process Improvement:
- Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for automation and optimization.
- Implement control strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.
Maintenance and Support:
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting control system issues.
- Develop preventative maintenance programs for control systems.
Project Management:
- Lead control system projects from concept to completion, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for the procurement and installation of components.
Documentation and Training:
- Maintain documentation for control system designs and processes.
- Train plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of control systems.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure control systems comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and HMI/SCADA development.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and automation technology.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with industrial networking and cybersecurity practices.
- Certification in Control Systems Engineering (CSE).
- Experience with specific hardware and instrumentation.
Work Environment:
- Based in a manufacturing plant with occasional exposure to loud noise and other industrial hazards.
- Occasional travel for training, project meetings, or vendor visits.
- Part of an on-call rotation one week per month.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
