Controls Engineer - Food
About the Role:
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support and optimize control systems at a cutting-edge production facility focused on high-quality nutritional ingredients. This role will collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams, playing a key part in troubleshooting, enhancing performance, and supporting plant expansion projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance on control and network systems.
- Design, code, test, and debug programs, modifying them as necessary to maintain plant operations.
- Create user-friendly HMI graphics and process diagrams, automating tasks and providing clear messaging for operators.
- Oversee external controls vendors to ensure project standards are met.
- Ensure control system reliability through maintenance plans for PLCs.
- Collaborate with IT to manage network communications and address security risks.
- Maintain spare parts and software/hardware licensing for uninterrupted operations.
- Offer 24/7 support for critical systems and provide training for local teams.
- Foster a safety-first culture within the controls team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of controls engineering experience, preferably in a food processing environment.
- Expertise in Allen Bradley PLCs and Logix programming.
- Familiarity with HMI tools such as Factory Talk View and Aveva InTouch.
- Strong knowledge of control system design and troubleshooting.
- Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
