We are partnered with an innovative clean tech company focused on transforming mineral processing capabilities for critical minerals.

Seeking to grow their engineering team through hiring a chemical engineer with a specialism in Hydrometallurgy.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the scale-up of lab processes to pilot and production scales, focusing on improving metal recovery and reducing costs and environmental impact.
  • Identify and mitigate potential process risks.
  • Evaluate and improve process capabilities and control, and deliver samples to customers.
  • Conduct process simulations and modeling to predict behavior under various scenarios.
  • Develop detailed production guidelines, including SOPs, process flow, safety, and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and improve product, equipment, and process issues during production.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior scientists, engineers, and technical staff.
  • Guide the R&D team and external partners in designing and executing experiments for chemical process design.
  • Oversee chemical process design from concept to scaled production, ensuring quality throughout.
  • Develop and model process designs for scale-up and cost estimation.

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Inorganic Chemistry, Material Science or a related discipline with specific understanding of hydrometallurgy and electrochemical processes.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Chemical Process Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience scaling processes from R&D to production.
  • Expertise in process modelling, utilising Metsim and SysCad for development, control, and scale-up.
  • Executing manufacturing scale-up and verification batches efficiently from bench scale to commercial production environments.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for cross-functional process improvements.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills for solving complex problems and decision-making.
