About the Company

Our client is a global leader in the production and distribution of industrial minerals for a variety of industries such as construction, packaging, food, pharmaceuticals and agriculture.

They are on the hunt for an experienced Automation Engineer to oversee all Automation work across ANZ. The role will support local maintenance teams in optimising their automation systems and plays a leading role in all automation and instrumentation projects.

This role will require site visits across Australasia


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for automated systems, including flow diagrams, operational manuals, and software programs.
  • Prepare cost estimates and schedules for automation and instrumentation projects
  • Develop new or enhance existing PLC and SCADA programs to optimize plant operations
  • Perform plant audits, troubleshoot issues, submit reports, and follow up on corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, identifying and mitigating automation-related risks
  • Supervise contractors during the installation of instrumentation and automation systems
  • Update electrical, automation, and instrumentation drawings as needed
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and integrate new automation technologies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in automation systems, minimizing downtime and operational disruptions

Requirements

  • Advanced expertise and hands-on experience with Unity programming, Citect SCADA, and PLCs (Quantum series, M340, M580). Familiarity with Cimplicity is advantageous
  • At least 5 years of experience in software development and commissioning
  • Proficiency with industrial Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, and OPC servers
  • Experience in designing instrumentation and automation systems is highly valued
  • Advanced experience with designing and commission software
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail and a results-driven mindset
